My husband and I share a lot of the same interests. Obviously we are both interested in building projects and such, but that isn't what I mean this time. We read the same books, play the same games, enjoy the same movies... Everyone has favorites of these things, but for us, many of our favorites are the same.
We are currently working to redesign a section of our garden (I'll be sure to share the project once the whole thing is done.) Anyhow, we wanted to incorporate a large garden decoration in one section and we came up with a fantastic way to embrace some of the stories that hold a special place in our hearts.
Using the method I detailed in This Post, I created signs for some of our favorite fictional places.
I am sure you recognize many, or even most of them, but we tried to use some names that are slightly less obvious. For example, rather than simply stating "Narnia", Cair Paravel is the name of the castle the siblings live in once they become the Kings and Queens of Narnia.
We began by digging a deep hole,
and securing the limb. We intentionally chose one that wasn't straight.
Then we got to do the fun part...
Attaching the the signs!
There was no real rhyme or reason to the order we chose.
Each sign was attached with only one screw so that we can adjust the angles if they don't line up well.
I absolutely adore the way this sign turned out!
I think it is even better than I pictured in my head.
I love that it is large enough to be noticeable,
yet the colors don't stand out too much against the background of the garden and woods.
There are a few more signs that we will be adding when I have the time,
and there is enough space that we can add more if we think of something else.
What locations would you include?
Here's another pinnable image for you. :-)
