The Fairy Garden we made last year has been a big hit with our son and all his friends so we decided it was time for an upgrade!
If you haven't read the post about the original fairy garden, you can do so here, but the most important thing to know is that this wasn't like every other fairy garden you have seen. Ours has a special surprise for the kids. Every now and then, something new appears during the night. The kids get so excited every time "the fairies" build something for their "home".
The original was limited by the size of the pot. We wanted to have more space available so this time we gave it a corner of the garden.
We found this adorable little trailer on clearance at Jo-Ann's, and thought it would be the perfect house. While it is really cute on it's own, it wasn't exactly right for our use so we gave it a makeover.
The whole thing got a decorative paint job.
Even the roof!
Our little felt it was very important for the door to say "Fairies only".
Then we tucked it into the corner of the new fairy garden.
We added some special flowers and other decorative plants.
Then moved some of our favorite accessories from the original, such as this bridge that we made by hand from wire and popsicle sticks.
And these adorable ceramic mushrooms.
Of course, the lookout tower that "the fairies built" for their first home was brought over as well. (The fairy you see here is just a decoration, the real one only come out when no one is looking ;-)
We tried to embrace as many natural elements as we could to spruce up the place.
The fairies have been hard at work adding to it.
They started with these Welcome signs.
A few days later these stones were shaped into a patio. A few days after that the table and chairs appeared. We They made these from wire as well.
The kids love to check every day just in case something new may have turned up,
and there are a lot more surprises planned. :-)
